World War 1 ended in 1918. This war almost bankrupted England , and ruined Europe's economy. However, President Wilson created a peace plan called the fourteen points peace plan in order to create peace between nations. After debating, the allies created and signed what was known as the Treaty of Versailles. Germany took little to no participation in the treaty which excluded Germany from joining the League of Nations, specified the new boundaries, reduced Germany's armed forces to low levels, and imposed many financial obligations which eventually ruined Germany's economy. Although the peace was kept for a while, this contributing factor eventually led to World War 2.
